February 27th, 2009
GOOOAAAALLLL? Similar to how we do most things, we recently decided to fill the Sonics-shaped hole in our soul with a readily available substitute—the Seattle Sounders FC. So far, this has proved easier than we thought, as we were never really much of a basketball town anyway. In true Seattle spirit, we are jumping in headfirst, wearing our new colorful scarves while testing the waters to see if we can get away with calling the game "football" without suffering too much derision from our neighbors.
While checking out what we hoped would have been cheaper tickets for a sport struggling nationwide, we were disappointed by what we found. With seats starting at $39 with a decent view of the pitch, we're hopeful that the action is going to be about $31.50 better than that of our nieces' peewee games—where beer is unavailable. |

Designer You
There are some of us out there that have a hard time putting ourselves together. We are not referring to our emotional state, but rather the random assortment of puzzle pieces that we call our wardrobe.
For those of us in Seattle who value quality in what we wear, would like to have a stylish appearance a notch or two above our neighbors, but need some friendly help figuring it all out—and David Lawrence is here for us. Specializing in designer clothing, the staff at David Lawrence brings highly respected name brands to those of us who might need a little guidance.
With a wide selection of new lines covering nightlife and business wear, the brands represented hereare a great entry into designer clothing without needing to break the bank. Classics like Dolce and Gabbana, Versace, and Zegna are balanced out by some more adventurous and less known brands such as John Richmond. And with the new wardrobe intact, we’re finally going to at least look like someone she can take home to mama.

Down The Alley
After either a great show downtown or a horrible day's work, there is nothing quite like relaxing at a well-lit bar with a few drinks in a clean and comfortable place.
Avoiding the higher-maintenance joints on the bus routes, you will be pleased to find a great new(ish) pub tucked into Post Alley between Kell's and the White Horse—appropriately named Post. In more of a complimentary manner than competitive, Post has settled into the neighborhood well, and offers a good selection of beer and whiskey and surprisingly delicious fish and chips. The food menu is regularly created from what is fresh and available at the market—a good thing for localvores. Best of all, the bartenders are quick, friendly, can remember what you are drinking, and are genuinely interesting to talk to.
Next time you’re downtown and looking for a place to spend some time, swing by Post, kick your feet up (figuratively), and make some new friends at the bar.

Bellevue’s Stimulus Package
Yes, we are facing one of the direst economic seasons that many of us have ever seen in our lives. There’s so much uncertainly looming with every turn we take, keeping many of us in constant limbo.
We’ve all seen this here at home with Microsoft as the fallen Goliath—even on a national level with CEOs of all the major banks receiving a tongue-lashing from Senator Barney Frank for their second helping of stimulus. Should we just fold and pine for the wonder years of our youth? We should not, just as long as we have a drink in hand and someone to laugh at.
Located in downtown Bellevue’s Lincoln Square, the Parlor Live is the perfect stimulus for such a season. Yes, you’re probably familiar with their billiards and lounge, but it’s their recent multi-million dollar renovation for live events that’s worth much consideration. With national headlining comedians appearing weekly and an impeccable wait staff to ensure you’re never empty handed, this escape guarantees you and your sweetie plenty of recession-proof laughs.

From Q To You
We’ve been waiting for James Bond-style gadgets to reach the market for a long time now. Unfortunately, our ski jackets still doesn’t inflate into a protective ball, our shoes don’t contain retractable daggers, and we still can’t seem to find a hand-held, air-supply mouthpiece for spontaneous underwater exploration.
Enter this micro color video camera/wristwatch. With 2GB of memory and a 352 x 288 pixel resolution, you’ll be one step closer to Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

WiFi When You Want To
With the abundance of WiFi hotspots throughout the city, country—and the world—we are now more connected then ever. The problem, though, is finding a strong signal quickly enough so you don’t have to stumble around holding your laptop awkwardly above your head.
Now, you can simply saunter around with the WiFi Detector Pen to get the best lay of the land. Additional benefit—this pen can be used as a pen. Genius.

Bank Safely
Perhaps you lost big by investing with Bernard Madoff, put away your savings at Stanford Bank, or just consider your swear jar to be your most promising asset. If this is you, or you just happen to like low-tech gadgets, we have something of interest.
Inconspicuous (unless you own zero books), and made of wood with a cloth binding, this safe has a coin slot and removable top for quick withdrawals.
